Etiquette and Timing
How long before my event should I place an order for the Le Catalogue collection?
We recommend ordering at least 3-4 months before your event since you'll most likely want to send your invitations 6-8 weeks prior to the event.
When should I send out my invitations?
For the most formal affairs, invitations should be sent 6-8 weeks prior to the event. If it is a destination wedding or most of your guests will be traveling, we recommend sending them closer to 8 weeks prior. Invitations for more casual affairs, such as showers and social events, can be mailed 4 weeks prior.
Is it necessary to include a reception card?
When the ceremony and reception are to be held at different locations or hours apart, a card is necessary to inform guests of the time and location.
When should I have my guests RSVP?
Generally, the RSVP date is half way between the mailing date and the event date. So, if you are sending out your invitations 8 weeks in advance, the RSVP would be due one month before the event. This allows you enough time to contact any non-responders and let your caterer know the final count.
Is a save-the-date card necessary?
A save-the-date is necessary for events on holiday weekends and destination weddings. They are also strongly recommended if most of your guests are from out-of-town. You want to make sure your special event gets on the calendars of friends and family!
Logistics
How many invitations should I order?
We recommend ordering 10% more than you think you need. There are always a couple of additions to the guest list, plus you want to have a few to save. We also encourage you to order extra envelopes as a buffer for mistakes in addressing. Too few invitations and envelopes often result in rush orders and additional costs.
What postage is required for your invitations?
Most wedding invitations, especially those from our Le Catalogue collection, require the standard wedding postage, which is 61 cents. Of course, postage is all about the weight and dimensions of the final piece. Our Couture clients will receive that information from their final mockup in an email. We recommend all our clients consult their local post office or www.usps.com prior to purchasing postage.
Can you help me create stamps to match your beautiful designs?
We work with stamps.com to create a design for a stamp that coincides with the design on your invitation. Not sure what we mean? Check out the "Alicia" in the Couture collection. If you are interested in this, just send us an email and we would be happy to get the stamps made for you.
Can I place a rush order?
Absolutely, but please call first! A rush fee may apply.
What is your return policy?
As all of our products are created just for you, Haute Papier cannot accept returns.
The Product
What papers are your invitations printed on?
We use only the finest papers for both the flat printing and letterpress. If you are interested in a sample, please fill out the information on the contact page.
What types of printing do you offer?
For our Couture collection we offer just about any form of printing including letterpress, engraving, thermography, flat printing, hand embossing, and foil stamping. Our Le Catalogue collection offers flat.
What is the difference between flat printing and letterpress?
Flat printing is achieved when ink is transferred to a paper either digitally or by a cylindrical roller. The result is completely "flat" in nature. Letterpress is created when ink is pressed into the paper. This process creates an impression you can both see and feel.
Can I use an ink color or font not listed on your site?
For all Couture orders, we can match any color out there and use just about any font.
Do you provide calligraphy services?
Yes. We offer calligraphed invitation design along with envelope addressing and hand-written place/escort cards. Please see our page all about calligraphy.
Can I use my own wording on the invitation?
Of course ... but if you're at a loss for words, check out our Sample Invite Wording.
Do you proofread orders?
No, that's why we ask you to proofread and proofread again. We don't know if the correct spelling is Grandpa Stephen or Steven, so again, please proofread! Haute Papier is not responsible for any errors on the final pieces that were present on the approved proof.
Can you print a return address on envelopes?
You bet! Be sure to provide the return address information along with the rest of the copy for each of your pieces.
Can you print guest addresses on your envelopes?
We offer beautiful computer calligraphy. Your local Le Catalogue retailer can assist you with your Computer Calligraphy order.
